WITH TERRA’S CHEF JEFF ROSSMAN
Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank to Receive a Portion of Dinner Proceeds
Farm Fresh To You, a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) and home delivery service that provides fresh, local, organic produce to consumers’ doorsteps, and one of its trusted partner farms, Suzie’s Farm, will team up with local chef Jeff Rossman, executive chef/owner of Terra American Bistro, to serve summer bounty’s at a farm dinner on Saturday, July 25, from 2:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Suzie’s Farm located at 2570 Sunset Avenue, San Diego, Calif., 92154.
The event will begin with an appetizer and bar reception at 2:30 p.m. followed by a farm tour and talk by Suzie’s Farm’s Lucila De Alejandro and farmer Thaddeus Barsotti of Farm Fresh To You. During the evening, De Alejandro, Barsotti and Chef Rossman will share stories about their passion for sustainable, organic practices and the use of farm-fresh ingredients. Farm diners will be treated to a four-course meal with wine pairings and beer from San Diego brewery Ballast Point.
“We look forward to a sumptuous meal with seasonal ingredients where our guests can take in the beauty of where their food is grown,” said De Alejandro.
“Suzie’s Farm and Farm Fresh To You’s collaboration allowed Farm Fresh To You to deliver in the San Diego region, and we couldn’t be more proud to co-host a dinner in a community that values sustainability and the role of farmers in our society,” said Barsotti. “Giving back to another key community partner, The Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank, through this dinner reminds us that everyone deserves access to fresh produce.” http://www.suziesfarm.com/

July 26, 2015 from 4pm to 8pm
Hidden in a valley in Harmony Grove near Escondido, Sky Mountain Permaculture is located on seven acres with the Escondido creek running though it. Since 2009 Alden Hough has been creating a rainwater harvesting demonstration site on a west facing slope. He has been using large water harvesting earthworks to capture and slow the rainwater that falls and runs onto the property and planting food forests to provide food for humans and wildlife.
A year ago, the Cocos wildfire came through the property causing a huge amount of damage, and the land is in the process of being restored. With the help of Partners with Fish and Wildlife, Alden is starting a native plant nursery and is hoping to encourage people to start breeding California wild edible plants and other drought tolerant species from other regions of the world.
Join us for a short slide show presentation of the restoration of the land, a tour of the property, a potluck in the woods and a cooking demonstration on a rocket stove using wild-crafted wild edible food.
Please reply to Antoinettkraft@sbcglobal.net if you plan to attend. Thanks!
